Irvine Valley College Partners with blueviolet Networks to Improve Campus Safety

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. (May 24, 2021)—blueviolet Networks, a network integrator firm that specializes in security has partnered with Irvine Valley College (IVC) to improve the overall safety of the campus. Immediately after installing the security system, IVC Police Department saw a drop in crime.

IVC’s open campus with over 15,000 students, 100 acres of campus and daily community visitors presents the college with costly security measures as well as the challenge to secure the perimeter and reduce crime.

The two-year $6,500,000 project included 402 Avigilon cameras on two campuses and 800 Avigilon access control doors to provide emergency lock down to protect students and faculty in case of an emergency. The project required upgrading the Schlage locking hardware as well as the Von Duprin panic bars and the installation of new doors and windows to meet ADA requirements.

Immediately after the security network went live, IVC PD immediately saw a drop in crime with directly led to lower insurance premiums.

Scott Kennedy, Chief of Police comments on the security system so far, “the system was installed quickly with minimal disruption to our day-to-day job of educating and keeping the student population safe. Performance has been phenomenal, and we expect to expand both the number of cameras as well as the security applications running on the network in the future.”
